Joyful Wishes

Wishing you a joyful holiday, wherever you are.

After five years of following the stamp industry you accumulate a lot of rubber stamps. This card features several rubber stamp sets from the same company, Lawn Fawn. I try to group the stamps from the same company because its easier to follow in case you might want to reproduce the card or do something similar. This is how I learned how to use alcohol markers, and card making techniques. I would purchase the same items that the artist was featuring and tried to reproduced the same card. I also took many online classes and watched YouTube videos. I feel compelled to list what I have used. Its almost like writing a school paper. Cite your sources! In case you are doing the same thing, trying to learn how to make a card, I have linked the items I could not find on Amazon. The link to Christmas Dreams stamp set by Lawn Fawn is linked here. The mountains and snow have dry glitter. I used multi medium matte to adhere Ranger’s Pour Style Antique Stickles dry clear glitter. You can find the dry glitter at Ranger’s website. I also linked it so it would be easier for you to find.

Scalloped Circle Gift Tag by Lawn Fawn

Christmas is just around the corner. It is never too early to start prepping for gift wrapping. Each year, I give my three daughters a handmade gift. Even though they see me working on the gift, I want them to learn to value of hand made. It isn’t the item itself but the thought, love and time that went behind making something for them. One year it was a paper ornament, another year it was a small watercolor painting. Something small to say, I love you.

Happy Holidays-Using Gina K. Design Sparkle and Shine Kit

Gina K. Design Sparkle and Shine Card Kit is pretty impressive. It not only comes with paper, stencil, die cuts but three stamp sets. Sometimes, you get a kit and think, “oh no- what do I do with it”. But Gina’s kit was well designed, it flowed.

At Gina K. Design Blog, they have a monthly challenge. November’s theme is to use a tag and a card. The challenge is to use two colors red and white. This is my entry. Wish me luck.

I do not have a lot of products from Gina K. Design. Hence the need to use a border from a different company. To create a shaker card with an interesting border, I used the Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Scalloped Square Stackables, and Stitched Scalloped Square Frames. I liked the shape of the border.

One more thing, the snow flakes and dots in the shaker card are from Joann’s. But I am guessing, they were in my drawer and I have had them for years.

Thanks

This card was inspired by Simon Says Stamp Wednesday Challenge. The general theme of Wednesday challenge is Thanks/Thanksgiving. The challenge is to feature any of Pink Fresh Studio products. Today’s card features Unicorn Dreams . The link that is attached is to Pink Fresh Studio home page. Unicorn Dreams is from the year 2017, since then it has been discontinued. It is still my favorite stamp because there are endless possibilities of making cards. I did not feature the unicorn itself but the flowers instead to show how beautiful the flowers are drawn. Less is more when you are making a statement.

To stamp the flowers I used Tsukineko Inks. I got them from the website called Cute Things From Japan. One of these days I would like to visit Japan. In the meantime, my internet browser takes me there instead. 🙂

The word, ‘Thanks’ is from Simon Says Stamp called Big Thanks. The small sentiment is also from Simon Says Stamp called Big Thanks Words. I have three daughters and I am eternally grateful for all the teachers, coaches, family and friends that are apart of our lives. Needless to say this stamp set has been used again and again.

Last but not least, the watercolors used to splatter the card are from Hydra Color. Half pan watercolors handmade! I love how vibrant the colors are. Link is included.

Happy Monday!

Thinking of You

This is my entry for Monday’s challenge on Simon Says Stamp. The theme ‘s challenge is Remembrance/Thinking of You. I had recently purchased a Stampers Anonymous stamp set called Dearly Departed. The flower portion of the stamp set caught my attention and I wanted to incorporate it into a card.

Snow Globe Gift Tag

I am participating an exchange where you create and send a Christmas card, an ornament and a gift tag. Here are the two gift tags that I will be sending. Super easy to make.

One tag is colored with Copic markers and the other tag is colored in pencils. I just wanted to see what the colored images looked like on camera. I used a Uni-ball white pen to give the sky more stars. The Uni-ball white pen is my go to pen when I want to give an image a high accent. The glitter that I used is from Martha Stewart, called Sugar Cube Stars. I could not find it at Amazon. But any embellishment that you have can be added to a shaker.

Christmas Ornament -Shaker Style

I am a huge fan of Jennifer McGuire, a leading card maker in the stamping industry. On Jennifer McGuire Ink website, Jennifer made a video on how to use a laminating pouch as a shaker window. Jennifer demonstrated that you could use pigment inks to stamp inside a the laminating pouch to make a sturdy window for shaker cards. Having learned how to do this, I decided to see if I could use a laminating pouch and emboss it. Then I decided to colored the stamped image, in this case a Christmas tree , with Sharpies. I ran it through the laminating machine. To my surprise it worked well.

Instead of having a one sided shaker ornament, I decided to create a panel on the inside of the ornament and shaker on the front and back of the star. I’m such a visual person that I thought a short video might do more justice than writing about it. Nevertheless, I hope it makes sense.

Let It Snow

I made this card on Monday but I was not happy with details that make a card special. After thinking it over, I decided to do redo the card by giving it more layers. Using Over the Mountain stamps has three meadows in it, so I created three meadows. In addition, I added the car and the house from Snow Globe Scenes stamp set to create. It reminded me of time we took the family skiing in Denver, Colorado.

Winter Dragon has just one dragon. I was able to get the opposite version of the dragon by stamping it on Mini Media Mat by Waffle Flower and then pressing paper to it. I outlined the dragon with Pigma Micron black in and cut it out by hand. Some card makers call this process ‘fussy cut’ because it is easier to use a die cut. But since there is no opposite dragon and matching die cut , I did it by hand.
