Snow Globe Gift Tag

I am participating an exchange where you create and send a Christmas card, an ornament and a gift tag. Here are the two gift tags that I will be sending. Super easy to make.

One tag is colored with Copic markers and the other tag is colored in pencils. I just wanted to see what the colored images looked like on camera. I used a Uni-ball white pen to give the sky more stars. The Uni-ball white pen is my go to pen when I want to give an image a high accent. The glitter that I used is from Martha Stewart, called Sugar Cube Stars. I could not find it at Amazon. But any embellishment that you have can be added to a shaker.

Christmas Ornament -Shaker Style

I am a huge fan of Jennifer McGuire, a leading card maker in the stamping industry. On Jennifer McGuire Ink website, Jennifer made a video on how to use a laminating pouch as a shaker window. Jennifer demonstrated that you could use pigment inks to stamp inside a the laminating pouch to make a sturdy window for shaker cards. Having learned how to do this, I decided to see if I could use a laminating pouch and emboss it. Then I decided to colored the stamped image, in this case a Christmas tree , with Sharpies. I ran it through the laminating machine. To my surprise it worked well.

Instead of having a one sided shaker ornament, I decided to create a panel on the inside of the ornament and shaker on the front and back of the star. I’m such a visual person that I thought a short video might do more justice than writing about it. Nevertheless, I hope it makes sense.

Let It Snow

I made this card on Monday but I was not happy with details that make a card special. After thinking it over, I decided to do redo the card by giving it more layers. Using Over the Mountain stamps has three meadows in it, so I created three meadows. In addition, I added the car and the house from Snow Globe Scenes stamp set to create. It reminded me of time we took the family skiing in Denver, Colorado.

Winter Dragon has just one dragon. I was able to get the opposite version of the dragon by stamping it on Mini Media Mat by Waffle Flower and then pressing paper to it. I outlined the dragon with Pigma Micron black in and cut it out by hand. Some card makers call this process ‘fussy cut’ because it is easier to use a die cut. But since there is no opposite dragon and matching die cut , I did it by hand.

So Thankful

Feeling thankful for my family and friends to today. Today I featured a stamp set called S’more the Merrier. Lawn Fawn and Ellen Huston joined together to create this stamp set. In addition, I also used Jump for Joy by Lawn Fawn to create the leafs and the sentiment.

The background was created with distress ink using Picket Fences blender brushes. I am enjoyed how smooth the distress oxide ink feels on Neenah paper Solar White paper. Its important to remember to use a heavy weight paper like 110lb because it can support ink and it will not tear.

Happy Halloween

With three more days till Halloween I thought I would do one more card to celebrate the season. I am wishing everyone a safe and healthy Halloween.

In case you are wondering what water colors I used. I purchased Hand Made Modern water colors from Target. (link provided) The water colors are super affordable. In addition, they come in a wooden box with 24 pans and two brushes. They are not a professional grade but I liked them all the same.

Also I used Martha Stewart Onyx and Sterling glitter as embellishments for the shaker card. Recollections has microbeads set and I used only ebony and silver. You can find these gems at any Michaels.

If you are interested in purchasing any card featured in this blog, let me know. All proceeds will be donated to Ocean Conservancy. My favorite place to be is on the beach and I want to help keep it clean and do all I can to maintain our oceans.

Bee Yourself

Growing up in Southern California, I loved the beaches, the sun and the warmth of the winters. In the 90’s there was this music video called No Rain by Blind Melon that featured a girl dressed in a bee costume dancing. Lawn Fawn’s Fox Costumes Before N Afters stamp and die cut set has this cute fox dressed in a bee costume and all I can hear in my head is the song No Rain. When you are a card maker you, the fox in the bee costume needs to dance, or at least spin. I hope this bring a smile to you.

I used Little Things from Lucy’s Cards to give the card some sparkle. Its called Ebony Mix and I have included the link.

To get the opposite image of the fox, I stamped the fox using My Favorite Things Black Licorice to Waffle Flower’s Mini Media Mat. Then I pressed paper to the image to the mat. Once I colored the fox in the bee costume with Copic Markers, I traced the image with black ink and finally cut the image. Before I glued the images together, I used Scotch Tape to secure the thread.

If you have any questions: Leave me a comment and I will do my best to answer your questions. Hope you are having an epic Friday.

For You

Outside In Stitched Pumpkin and Stitched Pumpkin Frame are beautiful die cuts. The card does not have anything surrounding it because less is more. Its a strong statement to make. I wanted to show how the pretty the sequins from Little Things From Lucy’s Cards are. (link included) I used Muted Metallics. When I went to research the link, I could not find Muted Metallics but they do have metallics. The embellishments from Little Things From Lucy’s Cards are gorgeous. I highly recommend visiting her website.

Included is a quick video to show how slider card works.

Wishing You a Beautiful Birthday

My children’s friends are the exact kids I would have been friends with if I were their age. I am so thankful for their friendship and the families that we have gotten to know over the years. This card is for a friend of my daughter’s who will be turning 12 years old.

If you have been following my blog, you know that I made another card using a die cut called Acorn House by Lawn Fawn. However, after watching Jennifer Mc Guire’s video on DIY Pop-Up Slider Cards -No Special Dies Needed, I thought I would give the pop-up slider cards a try. The link is included in case you would like to watch how Jennifer makes her own pop-up slider card.

Here is my results.

Quick video to see how it works.

Have A Faboolous Birthday

October 9, 2020

12th birthday

October birthdays are super fun to celebrate because you can incorporate a Halloween or autumn theme. Today’s card was made with a lot of love because the recipient of this card turns 12 today:)

It’s a shaker card using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Mug dies. Lawn Fawn has several Halloween stamp sets and die cuts. I used what I had in my stash.
You Tube is a fabulous resource. Over the years, I have tied to learn to sew. I found an iridescent floss at Joann’s Fabric. I attempted to try to stitch the side using my sewing machine however the floss was too delicate kept breaking so I ended up sewing the side by hand. It’s not a straight line but my attempt to make this card special.
