Sunshine & Love

When my husband and I were dating, I would borrow a friend’s bike and we would bike along the coast. This card reminds of that time.

Lawn Fawn’s Bicycle Built for You has one bike image. To get the reverse image, I stamped the image with Versa Fine Black to Waffle Flower’s mini mulit-media mat. Then I pressed paper to the stamped image. I seem to have trouble cutting along the image. It never looked polished. This time I decided to create a die cut and trace along the colored stamped reverse image. By tracing the image, I now had a guide and to follow. It matched the spacing from the yellow bike. I was happy with the results.

After cutting the reversed imaged, I erased any lines.

You are Essential

Lately, I have been thinking about how grateful I am for my family. How blessed I am to be apart of this world and the community that I live in. Lawn Fawn featured a special stamp set called, “Say What? Masked Critters”. My family is essential. People wearing masking are essential. I am hopeful that we will get past this pandemic together.

The Lawn Fawn Challenge

Every two week, Lawn Fawn features a challenge. Each challenge has a theme. For challenge number 92 the theme was, “Happy Occasions”. I originally made this card for a very special teacher. Mrs.B taught my youngest daughter in the first grade. Just to give you an idea of how special Mrs.B is, my youngest daughter is a 6th grader now, and we communicate with one another, five years later. Since then Mrs.B has moved to another state but to my daughter she is still a very special person in her life. Mrs.B recently had a son. The timing coordinated with the theme so I entered the card in Lawn Fawn’s challenge. Below is the picture of my card that was entered.

I want to congratulate all the other winners. Lawn Fawn has a strong following with artists from around the world. The cards that were featured in the challenge were pretty epic. In addition, I also want to thank Lawn Fawn for posting my card.

In the meantime, the card is in the mail in the hopes of making someone feel special!

Happy Wednesday!

Special Delivery

Today’s card features Lawn Fawn’s Special Delivery Stamp set and Magic Iris Birdhouse Add-on. I used the Large Slimline set but extended it so the length of the owl and box of bird plus the bird house would look portional. The bird house needed to be anchored and not floating in the school so I took the liberty and added grass and mushrooms.

The birdhouse itself is embossed with Hero Arts Gratitude Background. The focus the owl so the birdhouse did not need to be a distraction, yet the added background gave the birdhouse texture.

The card is for a really special person who just had their first child. We are sending this person lots of love. The hearts are from Simon Says Stamp Heart Breeze die cut. Using Wink of Stella, to add sparkle to each of the hearts. In addition, to add shine I used Glossy Accents on each of the hearts.

Let it Snow- a shaker card and a twirly card- all in one card

Lawn Fawn’s color inspiration challenge as been on my mind and I keep thinking how can I meet this challenge. The design team from Lawn Fawn have chosen a set of colors and your challenge is to use those colors in a card. As I was going through my stamp sets from Lawn Fawn and the Beary Happy Holidays stood out because the bear is iceskating.

The bear figure illustrated on the front and the back which lends itself to a ‘twirly’ card. I used white thread and taped it to the front side of the bear. After glueing the back, I used medical take to secure the thread to the card. The card can sit by itself.

I used small blue balls in the window to make it look like water. They are from a company called Queen & Co. Link is included to make it easier to find. Thats it- I enjoyed making cards as well as painting.

Joyful Wishes

Wishing you a joyful holiday, wherever you are.

After five years of following the stamp industry you accumulate a lot of rubber stamps. This card features several rubber stamp sets from the same company, Lawn Fawn. I try to group the stamps from the same company because its easier to follow in case you might want to reproduce the card or do something similar. This is how I learned how to use alcohol markers, and card making techniques. I would purchase the same items that the artist was featuring and tried to reproduced the same card. I also took many online classes and watched YouTube videos. I feel compelled to list what I have used. Its almost like writing a school paper. Cite your sources! In case you are doing the same thing, trying to learn how to make a card, I have linked the items I could not find on Amazon. The link to Christmas Dreams stamp set by Lawn Fawn is linked here. The mountains and snow have dry glitter. I used multi medium matte to adhere Ranger’s Pour Style Antique Stickles dry clear glitter. You can find the dry glitter at Ranger’s website. I also linked it so it would be easier for you to find.

Happy Halloween

With three more days till Halloween I thought I would do one more card to celebrate the season. I am wishing everyone a safe and healthy Halloween.

In case you are wondering what water colors I used. I purchased Hand Made Modern water colors from Target. (link provided) The water colors are super affordable. In addition, they come in a wooden box with 24 pans and two brushes. They are not a professional grade but I liked them all the same.

Also I used Martha Stewart Onyx and Sterling glitter as embellishments for the shaker card. Recollections has microbeads set and I used only ebony and silver. You can find these gems at any Michaels.

If you are interested in purchasing any card featured in this blog, let me know. All proceeds will be donated to Ocean Conservancy. My favorite place to be is on the beach and I want to help keep it clean and do all I can to maintain our oceans.

Wishing You a Beautiful Birthday

My children’s friends are the exact kids I would have been friends with if I were their age. I am so thankful for their friendship and the families that we have gotten to know over the years. This card is for a friend of my daughter’s who will be turning 12 years old.

If you have been following my blog, you know that I made another card using a die cut called Acorn House by Lawn Fawn. However, after watching Jennifer Mc Guire’s video on DIY Pop-Up Slider Cards -No Special Dies Needed, I thought I would give the pop-up slider cards a try. The link is included in case you would like to watch how Jennifer makes her own pop-up slider card.

Here is my results.

Have A Faboolous Birthday

October 9, 2020

12th birthday

October birthdays are super fun to celebrate because you can incorporate a Halloween or autumn theme. Today’s card was made with a lot of love because the recipient of this card turns 12 today:)

It’s a shaker card using Lawn Fawn’s Stitched Mug dies. Lawn Fawn has several Halloween stamp sets and die cuts. I used what I had in my stash.
You Tube is a fabulous resource. Over the years, I have tied to learn to sew. I found an iridescent floss at Joann’s Fabric. I attempted to try to stitch the side using my sewing machine however the floss was too delicate kept breaking so I ended up sewing the side by hand. It’s not a straight line but my attempt to make this card special.

Ghostly Greetings- Lawn Fawn Challenge #86

October 6, 2020

quick video of what the card can do:)

When you have three children under the age of 16, Halloween is a blast! It’s one of my favorite times of the year. Lawn Fawn makes it a lot of fun with their stamps and die cuts. Plus they have these challenges that bring together our crafting community of card makers. This is challenge #86, Halloween and Fall Inspiration. I used a couple of things that do not have a link to Amazon. Namely, Hydra Colour for the metallic splatter you see on the globe and background. You can find Hydra Colour at Etsy or click on the link. Hydra Colours are handmade watercolors, super creamy and vibrant colors.

In addition, it would be proper to link Lucy Abrams shop. She has the cutest sequins to use as embellishments. The deep black gemstones called Ebony Mix caught my eye last year. I hope you enjoy this card.
