Have a Sweet Birthday- Lawn Fawn Celebrates 11 Years

Happy 11th Birthday, Lawn Fawn! This is one of my favorite stamping companies. Not only do they have great customer service but fantastic products as well. Another reason to like Lawn Fawn stamps is because you can incorporate many sets into one card. As an example, I used Christmas stamp sets to make this birthday card. In fact, there were ten stamp sets that I used.

You Are My Love

Valentine’s Day is just around the corner. I wanted to give a Valentine’s card a mix media look. I first stamped the Kraft paper with two backgrounds then mixed modeling past with Distress Oxide’s Speckled Egg and then smeared the modeling paste once. As soon as it was dried, I repeated the process of mixing color and modeling paste and used Tim Holtz’s stencil called Tracks THSO44 so the tracks would look like they were on top of the layers.

Simon Says Stamp has a stamp set called, You Have My Heart. Besides the sentiments on the stamps, I liked the flowers. At first, I watercolored the flowers to give it a background look, then came in with colors pencils to give it more definition, afterwards, I used Stampers Anonymous Gamsol to mix the pencil wax into the watercolor paper. Afterwards, I used Wink of Stella to give it a shimmery look.

I have linked the following products for you in case you are interested in making a similar card- I am not employed by Simon Says Stamp so there are no affiliate links listed. I am sharing what I enjoy, making cards.

Twiddlersnook tray-this is a magnetic tray that Katy from Hook, Line and Inker on Instagram recommended and I have been using since. This is highly recommended because I tend to lose small die cuts and so the magnetic helps a lot.

Happy 17th Birthday!

My oldest daughter turned 17 this month. I had colored the card and finished it and was placing the final touches when I moved my hand over an image. The black ink wasn’t completely dried and I ended up smearing the ink over the image. I thought to myself, I can still save this card, so I decided to cut out the images and glue them to blue crafting foam. I added Simon Says Stamp Mini Stars to spruce it up. In addition, I also included Lawn Fawn’s Quinn’s 123’s to show that the card was telling a story of critters celebrating a 17th birthday. Its a cute card trying to convince myself! But in my heart it wasn’t what I had planned.

I love to color so starting over isn’t a big deal. Here is the second card for my oldest daughter’s birthday!

What I learned from this experience is that you can create a different cards with one stamp set. I like both of them so I will give them to my oldest. Happy Birthday B-Girl!

Scalloped Circle Gift Tag by Lawn Fawn

Christmas is just around the corner. It is never too early to start prepping for gift wrapping. Each year, I give my three daughters a handmade gift. Even though they see me working on the gift, I want them to learn to value of hand made. It isn’t the item itself but the thought, love and time that went behind making something for them. One year it was a paper ornament, another year it was a small watercolor painting. Something small to say, I love you.

Gift tags with a small charm!
